I’m trained as a philosopher and now work for BioLogos, the science and faith organization founded by Francis Collins.
I write books and articles at the intersection of science and faith, especially drawing on both disciplines to understand what it means to be human. I host the BioLogos podcast, Language of God. I speak in various venues, usually on science and faith topics (but inquiries on other topics are welcome).

From my Advent Sermon
on Hope
A.J. Muste (pictured here in a mural on the War Resisters League building in Manhattan) used to stand outside the White House at night holding a candle in the dark to protest what the government was doing. Seeing this night after night, a reporter asked him, “Do you really think you’re going to change the policies of this country by standing out here alone with a candle?” Muste replied, “Oh, I don’t do this to change the country. I do this so the country won’t change me.”

What I’m Working On
I’m preparing for an upcoming episode of Language of God with Marilynne Robinson. I’m reading her book Reading Genesis and looking forward to a conversation that ranges from biblical interpretation to her long-standing reflections on science, modernity, and human dignity. The episode will explore how Robinson reads Scripture with literary and moral attentiveness, and how that posture reshapes the often-fractured conversation between faith and scientific understanding.
